PORTUGAL
After I finished up my summer classes in Paris, I headed to Portugal for a relaxing few weeks. I fell in love with Portugal's mixed vibes of Europe, yet tranquil, yet graffitied, yet gorgeous. The coastal towns reminded me of being back home on the coast of South Carolina, but the culture was so rich and mixed. Everyone we met seemed to speak at least 3 languages, and were honestly the most hospitable people I've encountered in Europe ~ sorry France.
I had the best Airbnb host in Faro - a town most overlook, but I wouldn't if I were you! My host and his friend cooked an authentic Indian meal for me and took me out on the town on my last night. Check out my host's Airbnb profile to see when you can stay with him in Faro!
I also had the best hotel staff in Lagos - basically, it was like a guesthouse where the family, Lisa and David, in charge treated me as their top priority, gave me free wine because they loved the story of how my boyfriend and I met while volunteering, and even offered to drive me to the bus station for free because the taxi was a no-show. Also, the hotel was newly refurbished, so 5 star quality for 3 star price - yes please! Check out the hotel here.
After Lagos I cut my trip short and only spent two days in Lisbon... because I randomly decided to go volunteer in South Africa...
